Hi friends! This week’s #makersmadeitmonday post is the outcome of my crafting retreat. The verdict is in: string art is a lot of fun to make!
The retreat absolutely did NOT go the way that I expected. We didn’t have as much crafting time as I anticipated, which means that I had to scrap my plan A and go for a simpler design. (And I hadn’t gotten to stain my wood because of a rough week with the kids, so this project wouldn’t have even happened if my friend hadn’t come with an extra!) Apparently I was aiming a little high with an infant and toddler in the mix! That being said, the end result made me really happy and we had a fabulous time.
What I loved about this project: Aside from the prep work, which I failed to even totally do (hello, still needing to stain my wood), it was super simple. I was able to make this from start to finish in the span of a Hallmark movie. It really is a great craft to do with friends because it doesn’t require a lot of concentration.
What I learned from this project: You have to keep tension on that string! As soon as you let go, it totally unravels.
What I’d do differently next time: Now that I’m fully intending to make a few more string art projects that I dreamt up, I need to learn how to pound nails in straight. Not my strong point, apparently! I shall also plan to stain my project a week in advance to give myself time to not have time.
