Being a mama is hard. Some days I feel like supermom. Everything goes according to plan, the kids are happy, and I feel like I’ve finally gotten the hang of this parenting gig. Most days don’t feel like that. I’m hoping it gets easier as the boys get older – they are an infant and toddler right now – but I’ve yet to hear that it does from another parent.
Creating is my outlet. On those days when my husband tells me, “No one is injured or dead. You did good, babe,” getting to create something and see it go according to plan is a relief, like I can at least do something right. I mean, I know that I’m doing my very best to raise these two littles. But sometimes it is nice to see the fruit of your labor right away, you know?
It doesn’t matter to me what I am making. A gift for a friend, something for my home or boys, a quilt for myself…all of it is good. And that is why, when it boils down to it, I want to share these skills with you, my reader. Not because I have it all together or because I’m in any way close to perfect, but because I want you to be able to create what is on your heart, too. Because there is something fulfilling about creating, and I cannot wait to hear what you are up to and how you can make it happen, too.
So what do you like to do or create that gives you a little spark of joy everyday?
